When is the app available?

The Move it Mama app is available now! You can sign up via our new website (web app) here.

If I’m an existing (pre-app) Move it Mama member, how do I sign up?


Open a browser such as Chrome, type in the above URL and sign up via the web app first - this is where our promotions are available (if available). You will choose a subscription (weekly, monthly or annual) and then download the mobile app from your app store. Once signed up, you will be able to access either the web app or mobile app at any time you like. As an existing member, it’s important you cancel your older/existing membership or email us to do so. The new app is an entirely new system and platform, therefore, an old membership will not automatically migrate.

If you have a unique membership such as a gifted membership (previously won at auction for example), or a membership paid for upfront, please email us at subscriptions@moveitmama.co.nz for us to sort this out on a case by case basis.

How much does the app cost?

We have three membership options available -

● weekly - $9.99 per week
● monthly - $29.99 per month - includes a 7 day free trial
● annual/yearly - $240 per year (equates to $20 per month) - includes a 7 day free trial

I’m an existing (pre-app members) and can’t decide if I want the app yet - can I still workout with you on Facebook or on the current website?

No, the mobile and web app has replaced our Facebook/website platform. Our LIVE sessions have been delivered inside the app since 1st February 2025. To workout with us, you now need app access. Same community, same sparkle - just a much better experience.

What’s inside the Move it Mama app?

A fresh, easy-to-use home for all your workouts. You’ll find all live workouts (15 per week), an extensive library of on-demand sessions, pre-recorded programmes (beginner, pregnancy, postpartum, and all new One Step at a Time and Gym with MIM!), information on challenges, and more. Everything you already love - just much easier to access and enjoy.

How does the app work?

On opening the app, you will go through a brief onboarding process. Answering these questions helps us draw insights into our members so we appreciate your time here (it will just take a minute). Once you have gone through this onboarding, you will see five main menu items at the bottom of the screen. ‘For you’, ‘explore’, ‘community’, ‘planner’ and ‘profile’.

The for you tab showcases upcoming LIVE workouts, the latest LIVE workouts, and shortcuts to things like help articles, pre-recorded workout programs and the Move it Mama podcast.

The explore tab is where you can search for any workout. You can search and filter by trainer, by workout type, by workout duration, target area (i.e., core or upper body) and so on.

The community social page is where you’ll find the member news feed. When completing a workout, you will be prompted to ‘mark as complete’. It’s essential you do this if you want to log the workout to your activity tracker. When completing a workout you can also choose to leave a review (a comment) and a photo - you can choose whether or not to share the review/photo or keep your post-workout activity private. If you choose to share it, it will show up on the community social page. You can engage with other members by ‘liking’ their comments (one day we hope to build more on this engagement piece).

We encourage you to ‘log’ the session so you can follow and track your progress, but it’s up to you if you share it to the public community page or keep it private just for you.

The community updates page is where Leece (or the team) will share relevant updates, announcements or posts.

The planner tab is where you can plan and schedule your workouts, and set yourself reminders for the workouts ahead of time. You will note that where you have marked a workout as complete, a pink dot will be logged on that relevant date.

Profile is where you will update your profile and where you can see your overall activity, workouts completed, streaks and so on. Scroll down and you’ll also see the workouts you have saved to ‘favourites’ (by tapping the heart).

Visit the settings toggle (top right of the profile tab) to update preferences including activating push notifications for extra accountability!

Is the app suitable for beginners or people coming back from injuries?

Absolutely. We’ve designed the app so you can filter by level, style, time, or intensity. We have our From the Beginning programme (12 beginner style, 10 minute workouts), our 12 week postpartum and core rehabilitation programme and our new One Step at a Time programme - all three programmes allow and encourage you to start at the beginning. Depending on where you’re at, there really is something there for everyone.

Can I use the app on my phone AND my computer?

Yes - our app is both a mobile app and a smooth web version.

Can I cast the workouts to my TV?

Yes - for the most part, you can cast to your TV from the web/mobile app! Inside the app you’ll see our FAQs which go over casting from the app. The casting capability is dependent on your device and TV - if you have problems, you can try - google home, screen mirroring, or opening the web app on a browser and casting from a device such as a laptop. Email us if you have issues.

Can I download workouts to use offline?

Offline downloads may come later, but aren’t available just yet!

What makes the Move It Mama app different from other fitness apps?

Because this isn’t just workouts - it’s community, real-life, connection, and consistency. It’s our people showing up through every season. It’s thoughtful programming, support from the inside out, and workouts that make you feel strong and empowered. And now, all of that sits inside a beautifully built, easy-to-use app designed just for you. Do I have to be a mum to be in Move it Mama?

Absolutely not. Leece - Founder of Move it Mama - started the business when in the throes of young children and very time poor, and with many other mums joining her in those days before the business launched, it sort of coined the name Move it Mama. This doesn’t mean you need to be a mother to benefit from the workouts or community - there really is something for everyone.

What workout do you deliver on Move it Mama?

If new to exercise - From the Beginning and Back to Basics are great options to hone in on your technique and start from the beginning with your fitness. These workouts are 10-20 minutes and are bodyweight only.

If postpartum, we recommend looking at our 12-week postpartum and core rehabilitation program. A 12-week progressive pathway to exercise postpartum, written and programmed alongside a fantastic women’s health physiotherapist.

Workouts otherwise vary in difficulty and intensity across HIIT (high intensity), loaded (weights), Hybrid 35 (mix of weights/bodyweight), pilates, strength (bodyweight) and box jam. Workouts requiring equipment are loaded, Hybrid 35 and sometimes pilates (small weights and booty bands).

From the Beginning, Pregnancy, Postpartum, One Step at a Time, Gym with MIM and Hybrid Express workouts are prerecorded. Fresh Hybrid Express workouts drop into the app every Thursday and Sunday.

Workouts are delivered by sisters Lisa (Founder), Lisa’s sisters Jess and Char, Ainslie (pilates), Kirsten, Sarah and Natalia.

What equipment will I need?

The only equipment you need is for Loaded, Hybrid35, Hybrid Express, Gym with MIM and sometimes pilates - all other workouts are bodyweight only (Back to basics, HIIT, strength and box jam). When starting, you might want to use an incline, such as a bench or chair, when doing some of the plank based work, or for supporting you through movements like lunges and squats. Ainslie will often use small dumbbells, booty bands and/or cushions in her pilates sessions (kitchen cans work, or light 1-3kg dumbbells). For advice on equipment, please don’t hesitate to email us.

What do I need specifically for loaded?


We suggest one set of dumbbells and a kettlebell to get sarted. Our advice on what specific weight to get may vary depending on your history with exercise and weights and your current situation, so if you would like specific and tailored advice, feel free to reach out to jess@moveitmama.co.nz.

If you are relatively new to weights, we suggest starting out with dumbbells anywhere between 3 and 5kg and a kettlebell somewhere between 8 and 12kg. As you are working out from home and likely won’t have access to a full selection of weights, it could be that in some exercises you could do with a heavier or lighter weight, but this is to be expected. As you build strength, you can then get a heavier set and eventually utilise a ‘heavy’ and a ‘light’ set, which can be really enjoyable and effective. It’s definitely important to increase your weights as you progress through loaded workouts, to ensure you continue to challenge your body and muscles (if you want to build muscle).

If/when purchasing a kettlebell, having this be heavier than the combined weight of your dumbbells is really useful in terms of variety. That way you have more weight options: no weight, one dumbbell held in both hands, two dumbbells and the kettlebell.

The person delivering loaded will do their best to offer suggestions with modifying or adapting all exercises. Loaded is offered 4x per week on our LIVE timetable (Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday).

Hybrid35 consists of a mixture of weights and bodyweight moves. Feel free to use the same weights you have for loaded or perhaps even scale back and drop weight a little, as Hybrid35 can be more intense (although still scalable).

What happens if the live workout times don’t suit me?

If you miss a LIVE workout, you can do it once it’s been delivered. All workouts stay on the app and are searched easily via the explore function (or the latest workouts listed on the for you page).

How do I join a LIVE workout?

The trainer will go LIVE about 5 minutes before the start time of a LIVE workout. As you open the app, they will be right on the front of the main home page (for you). You can set your push notifications on and receive a notification as and when a trainer is live, too.

What else is available in Move it Mama?

Move it Mama prides itself on its community. We love to engage with our members on social posts and workouts, as well as through in person workouts, local boot camps or meet and greets whenever possible.

We also have a podcast! You can listen to The Sparkle Pod wherever you get your podcasts or from inside the app!
